How do I order?

Starting each Thursday and through the weekend the system is opened for orders to be placed. Also, a list of available products is sent to all of our registered customers by e-mail. Customers must place their order for the week no later than Monday at 11:59 p.m. Orders should be placed here on our website. (Growers then receive an email of their orders on Tuesday and bring them Wednesday evening to the Ann Arbor Evening Farmers Market.)

When do I pay? What type of payments are allowed?

Wednesday evenings during the market. Go directly to the Ann Arbor Evening Farmers Market vendors you ordered from and pay them directly. Because vendors need to keep track of online orders that are completed, you should tell them your name and that you ordered online.

Payment types are up to the individual vendors but most vendors accept cash and check for sure. Just about all vendors also accept the $1 green coins (EBT/bridge card) and $5 red coins (credit card). Just take your EBT or credit card to the Market Office to be swiped. As per the relevant policies, vendors are not allowed to make change for the $1 green coins but vendors can make change one $5 red coins (they work the same as cash).

When and Where do I pick up my order?

Wednesdays from 4:30pm-7:30pm customers can pick-up their online orders at the Ann Arbor Evening Farmers Market located at the regular Ann Arbor Farmers Market space in the Kerrytown district of downtown Ann Arbor (315 Detroit Street). Pick up directly from vendors with which you placed orders online. The market manager can remind you of your order if needed.

What if I place an order but do not pick it up?

We understand that circumstances can arise, so you are certainly entitled to explain the circumstances to the grower and ask for his/her understanding. However, out of respect for our growers, if a customer places an order and then does not claim it: 1) growers are free to choose not to allow future online business from said customer; and 2) the market managers are free to cancel a customer’s online profile and block the customer’s future use of this service should the customer order and not pick up on 3 or more occasions.

How can I sell through this market?

If you’ve already created a customer account here, simply go to Our Growers and click on ‘Join this Market’. This will add you to our system and our market managers will contact you with the next step. All growers on this system must have been accepted as growers at the Ann Arbor (Wednesday) Evening (Pilot) Market by filling out an application available from the market manager or <http://a2gov.org/market>.

Why support Locally Grown?

Enhance your local economy: By purchasing produce and other items from local growers you are providing stability to your local economy through the support of local businesses.

Save natural resources: Buying locally makes you an invaluable link in the process of saving resources such as fossil fuels and packaging materials. Also, we are right here in your community so the expense of transportation and delivery is kept to a minimum.

Provide learning opportunities: Locally Grown supporters provide member growers the means to help educate our community about the importance of sustainable agriculture.

Supporting a way of life: The number of small farms in the United States has decreased dramatically in the last decade. Please help us preserve an honest and worthy means of making a living.

We believe that small, diverse, family-owned farms contribute to society’s overall health.
